What is collagen?
Collagen is the main structural protein found in various connective tissues in the body. It is the most abundant protein in humans, making up 25%–35% of the body‘s protein content. It is mostly found in fibrous tissues such as tendons, ligaments, and skin.
Why choose marine collagen?
Marine collagen (cod) consists of smaller peptides than bovine, making marine collagen easier to digest and distribute throughout the body.
Wild caught cod collagen is mostly Type I collagen, which is the most abundant type of collagen found in the human body and accounts for 80% of the collagen in skin, making it the most similar in structure to human collagen.
What are peptides?
Peptides are short chains of amino acids linked by peptide bonds. You could call them fragments of proteins. On their own, peptides are made up of amino acids. When amino acids are combined in certain formations they create specific peptides, and when peptides are formed in a certain way, they make specific proteins.
Why do we need collagen supplements?
Starting in your mid 20‘s, the body’s natural collagen production starts to decline by about 2% a year and is not replenished. By the age of 40, the body will lose between 10–20% of its collagen and up to 50% by the age of 50. Because of this, it is essential to supplement your collagen intake. What does hydrolyzed collagen mean?
